Talking Real-World EV Ownership at Electrify Expo New York

In October 2025, I had the opportunity to join the EV Reality Check Stage at Electrify Expo New York at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.

The conversation with Matt Teske of Chargeway and Daniel Cohen of UCharge focused on something I spend a lot of time talking about with EV owners and prospective buyers: what EV ownership is actually like once you get past the headlines, assumptions and myths.

We talked about the day-to-day realities of owning an EV, how charging fits into normal driving habits, where the experience works well, and where there are still legitimate challenges. The goal was not to pretend EVs are perfect. It was to give people a practical picture of the technology based on real use.

Why that conversation matters to Bamboo

That same practical approach is a big part of how Bamboo Strategy Group works with EV charging customers. Charging equipment is not one-size-fits-all. The right answer depends on the vehicle, the electrical service, where the car is parked, how it is driven, and what the owner actually needs from a charger.

Whether I am talking with a homeowner choosing a Level 2 charger, a business evaluating workplace charging, or a fleet considering electrification, I would rather help someone understand the tradeoffs than simply point them toward a product.

Electrify Expo brought together EV drivers, automakers, charging companies and industry voices from around the country. I appreciated the chance to contribute a perspective grounded in both EV ownership and the charging work we do every day at Bamboo.
